It is sad we have to resort to firewall blocking. I did this 3 weeks ago and no pop-ups since then. The second one will depend on which version of QB you are running.

I think by leaving the incoming unblocked you can still download critical security updates, if you want finally got it to stop, on Windows I went to the Windows Defender Firewall advanced setting and blocked QBW32.EXE and QBW32PremierWholesale.exe in both inbound and outbound rules. They will be shown at the top of the list, so easy to delete if you have a problem later. (Using the basic Windows Defender Firewall Advanced Outbound rule - Add a new rule). I have just tested on QBW2019 and QB2021 Premiere versions, only blocking outgoing traffic (do not try to call home dear!) on QBW32.exe and QBW32Premiere.exe and both have not asked for a login to Intuit. Thankyou for highlighting this solution, A nice Christmas present! We have abandoned the idea of moving the data to the new system, would rather leave one computer with QB for when we need to look at old data. We are evaluating open source solutions, if anyone has a suggestion for one we would appreciate it.
STOP WINDOWS ASKING FOR PASSWORD ON STARTUP UPDATE
We have decided to not update QB and will never purchase another Intuit product. Terrible system, ridiculous double login requirement for MY OWN DESKTOP COMPUTER'S finally got it to stop, on Windows I went to the Windows Defender Firewall advanced setting and blocked QBW32.EXE and QBW32PremierWholesale.exe in both inbound and outbound rules. And guess what? To even set up my "ID" to post this took several tries including sending codes to my email, requiring my phone number THEN getting bounced out for "too many redirects". Intuit can count on me to tell this story about why others should NOT buy Quickbooks, and why I'm going elsewhere for software. Updates have screwed up my reports and settings in the past, but this new intrusion is unacceptable. I used to recommend Quickbooks to others. What an incredible waste of MY time while INCREASING SECURITY RISK by connecting to the Internet and to Intuit's network. This data and access grab by Intuit means I'll have to wait for this stupid pop up to appear EACH TIME I SWITCH AMONG MY 10 COMPANIES, ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Only right clicking on the top border of the pop-up then cancel get rid of it EACH time.

None of the workarounds posted here actually stop it, including setting the password to 90 days, turning off access to the Internet through "Help" (a setting which does not appear to get saved), turing off integrated applications, turning off pop-ups, not Alt + F4 on the po-up, etc. But of course the "no update" settings were reset, so updates to 2019 were immedaitely added. It's because I wasted more than half a day this week redownloading and reistalling Quickbooks for 10 separate small companies to try to rollback the update requiring me to now login using an Intuit ID and password in ADDITION to each company's separate password. This is the FIRST time I have ever posted. We do not want them backed up into your cloud either - but that is another issue. Please do not try to be a nanny state, allow us to look after our own files. That is why we have local login passwords to computers. I (and MANY OTHERS) do not need or want to verify myself to Intuit.
STOP WINDOWS ASKING FOR PASSWORD ON STARTUP OFFLINE
I did not buy the online version as I wanted a safe offline version.
STOP WINDOWS ASKING FOR PASSWORD ON STARTUP SOFTWARE
My company software was safe IN MY HANDS. Logging in to your Intuit account and verifying your identity will help protect your data and my having a desktop computer on premises is not secure? You are saying I need to verify with Intuit that this is really me? It was bad enough that I needed to have a company login to my stand alone file.Īll I want from Intuit are bug fixes to my purchased software that is NOT connected to the cloud. This update helps ensure that the person accessing the company file is authorized. The option to disable the pop-up login to the Intuit account is unavailable.
